The Maven and Blind Pig Cider Launch

To celebrate the good news of new ciders hitting the bars of Leeds (which is always a great thing), The Maven held a lovely informal launch night to give us a taste of the three exciting new Blind Pig Ciders hitting the shelves in town.
BlindPigCiderCollageThe ciders all had an unusual taste because of their mix with either rum, whiskey or bourbon, but were ever so delicious. Especially with not being a whiskey fan, I was really surprised as to how well it mixed into the drink- a cider I could definitely keep supping all night.7All three mixes were fab and had a wicked design on the wrapper of the bottles:

  • Rum & Poached Pear
  • Whiskey, Honey & Apple
  • Bourbon & Blueberry

All three were garnished with refreshing fruits, a typical and perfect way to add to the taste of the cider. All four of us- myself and my boyfriend, and blogger buddies Jennie and Gloria- loved the ciders and were more than content with our topped up cocktail glasses.  5Throughout the night, nibbles were brought out that were made by Bears Pantry Catering and perfectly complimented each of the three drinks. The pork belly bites came out as the starter, which were glazed in the Blind Pig Cider Whiskey, Honey and Apple adding a sticky and sweet texture to the meat.10As someone who loves savoury food, the main nibble which was apple and tomato curry with crispy rice was amazing! As soon as I got home, I searched the web how to make my own crispy rice as it was so delicious and really something different. To finish off the nibbles was a trio of sweet treats. Presented on a wooden board was sweet cider puffs with marshmallows coated in a bourbon and blueberry dust with dark chocolate shards. Although I’m not a big marshmallow fan, I couldn’t help but get excited at those squidgy pieces because of that prurple dust on them alone. They looked bloody brilliant and tasted just as good too.
The night was lovely and chilled, and it was awesome to have been one of the first to have drunk Blind Pig Cider in The Maven. Thanks to both SL Social and The Maven for having us and I’ll be planning the next trip back very shortly.
