Christmas done the right way is so magical. Celebrated with family, friends and those nearest to you, with a good handful of games for the fun and laughter, the glistening decorations, colourful lights and the smell of pine… bliss. What ties Christmas completely together though is the food and drink enjoyed in between all those special festive moments.
If I think back to some of my fondest Christmas memories, there’s always a certain special food that springs to mind, or a funny story to tell laced by a little tipple or two.
Food plays a heavy role in my perfect Christmas, not just purely for the enjoyment of taste, but the togetherness it creates, the shared joy in one room.
So therefore, I decided to put together my roundup of gift ideas perfect for any foodie.
Ideal for family or friends that are keen Emmerdale watchers, an afternoon tea or even brunch and bubbles in The Woolpack would be a real treat. In the new year, The Emmerdale Studio Experience will be opening up their doors and creating a new spot in town where keen brunchers can curb their hunger with a recognizable change of scenery.
From a selection of sandwiches and savoury pastries, cakes and homemade scones served with clotted cream and jam, or hearty breakfast items with prosecco, there’s an option for everyone.
For those that like to cook with that certain je ne sais quoi, the Sous Chef’s deluxe truffle package comes with a solid variety of infused and blended products. From acacia truffle honey to black truffle oil, from butter to puree and carnaroli risotto rice, this gift set comes with tasting notes to give you a full intense experience that you can continue to enjoy in home cooking all year round.
Produced in the home of Italy’s truffle market, Acqualagna, the products are collected and created by two truffle experts, Marini and Azzolini who have been doing so for over 50 years.
This gift would be ideal for people that like mushrooms, home cooking and a fan of the Italian cuisine.
Living in Leeds, I may very well be really biased, but Leeds is home to some of the best independent restaurants in town. Pair that with our gin bars or ale trail, the culture and scenic buildings the city has to boast about, we’re quite the destination. The Leeds Food Tours is a five-hour-long experience where you’ll visit six venues, designed to showcase and support chain-free restaurants and local suppliers.
Of course, the number one mission is to ensure that you have the chance to tuck into some real fab food and leave with an abundance of foodie knowledge.
If your looking to surprise a loved one within your own four walls, an in-house chef experience might be exactly what you’re after. You pick a chef and theme, provide a kitchen and area for you to host at home, and the rest is in the hands of the chef, bringing the fine dining experience within your home.
Last year we had our own experience with La Belle Assiette, where we were sat back, relaxed and ate gorgeous food. The event was intimate, completely food orientated and professional – a real special occasion. There are so many chefs bringing a luxurious food experience to your home, it’s just a case of finding the right menu and setup that works for your surprise. If you’re in need of some Yorkshire inspiration, Private Chef at 40, whilst if you’re looking further afield, Dine Indulge not only covers the UK, but mainland Europe too.
So, I hope through this post, you have four possible ideas you can surprise those close to you this Christmas. Food brings people together, it creates memories that are best shared.
Lots of love,
Charlotte xox
