DIY candy cocktails to try at home

0

When it comes to enjoying a little drink or two at home, you’ll often find me turning to simple cocktails like a brandy lemonade with bitters, a good old Bailey’s or if I’m feeling a little bubbly, prosecco with elderflower syrup.

A delicious drink that doesn’t take hours to prepare, or a mixing madness that’s the equivalent of an arm workout.

Having recently had a box full of American goodies arrive home, I thought I’d give myself the challenge to reinvent some classic drinks with candy from the States. As part of a US sweetie subscription, my Taffy Mail box was full of goodies, and had two key themes going on inside.

Fresh and fruity green apple and the heavenly combo of chocolate and peanut.

A refreshing appletini sprung to mind, but instead of relying on apple schnapps for the flavours, I wanted to see how well Skittle flavours could be extracted. This, alongside a cake-like garnish thanks to the Pop Tart, created a perfect recipe for an apple pie.For a more comforting chocolate overload, I wanted to create an atomic shake for those of you with a sweet tooth using the Snickers, Cookie ‘N’ Creme Pretzels and Peanut Butter M&M’s.

Just that combination makes my mouth water.

Two tastes, two drinks.
