I’ll say it year after year, autumn-winter collections are my ultimate favourite. It’s the textures, the colours, patterns, material – everything looks snug, comforting and just real.
From mustard yellow, to forest greens or shades of berry, and if it’s accompanied by a wool blend, a cable-knit scarf and chunky boots, then you know you’ve hit the deepest of autumns.
My personal A/W style has always been rather simple, give me jeans, a cute top a thick cardigan and a comforting scarf as the accessory. Warm colours, soft textures, ideal for work and home.
Nathan’s style is the same. Crisp and clean, without the need for complicated layers and accessories.
Having spent seven years with Nathan, it’s probably fair to say that my style has had quite the significant influence on Nathan’s.We met during a stage in his life where he worked within the sports sector, living mostly in sports clothes, and only ever really in need of that one pair of nice shoes.
I clearly felt very differently, looking at my 114 pairs of shoes, all of which are necessary and matched to a perfect outfit.
Fast forward to now, that ‘one pair of shoes’ have escalated to a somewhat rather impressive collection of too many for any man (according to some folk), with the same multiplier effect on the rest of Nathans wardrobe too.
So, for this autumn, there’s plenty of stylish choices for Nathan to choose from and mi and match with.
This ensemble, a mix of new and old, from head to toe starts with a wool blend coat from Threadbare, bought a few years back at TK Maxx. The detachable fleece collar is a nice extra option and large enough pockets to fit both our hands it. Very important. The t-shirt is from Jacamo, is a soft short sleeved top split in colour with berry and navy. They’re two complementary colours that not only works well for autumn but all year round actually.
As Jacamo caters for tall and larger sizes, we opted for size large and regular length. A long version is available too, but the regular length sat very well around the pocket-line area.
Finding the right trousers for Nathan used to be problematic, we struggled with finding a pair that had the perfect measurements. Now M&S is our go-to, with their slim fit jeans being the best match. Although they do have a wide range of jeans, it’s still few and far between in terms of style and aesthetics. And crucial to everything, especially with the colder months, are to have a pair of boots that are comfortable and can keep those tootsies warm. With Nathan’s build, there will be certain types of shoes that don’t support his ankles enough or become painful to walk in. These lace-up Landrover boots are perfect for all of the above.
They’re comfy, trendy, and 100% keep the feet warm. Bonfire night tried and tested.
So, we’re all geared up to enjoy Autumn and Winter in full swing. Bring on those chilly evening strolls, Bonfire night huddles and weekend walks all leading up to the excitement on Christmas.
What do you most look forward to during the colder months?
