Leeds Indie Food is back and for the fourth time in a row #LIF18 is serving up food and drinks feast fit enough for a king or queen. A true celebration of independent food and drink.
So, if thee haven’t been, where and when can a noble folk go to satisfy a wild appetite and quench one’s thirst?
Good question – various locations around Leeds, and right up until 28th May. With daily events taking place right through until the end of the month, the Leeds Indie Food calendar is just screaming out to be explored.
To give you a little hand too, I’ve picked out my nine personal highlights that are still yet to come:
In a collaboration between micro bakery Noisette, and North Star Coffee Shop, you’ll be in for a real treat exploring a series of dessert courses with alcoholic or non-alcoholic pairings. Inspired by ingredients sourced from across the globe as well as on our doorstep, each course is guaranteed to make those taste buds tingle.
This event is wheelchair friendly and suitable for vegetarians.
Guys, although the event says sold out, there are still a few tickets available. GO, GO, GO! We have ours and we’re ecstatic to have bagged tickets this year.
This is the ultimate North Bar bar crawl. Starting at The Cross Keys in Leeds, touring Otley, Meanwood, Harrogate, Chapel Allerton and Oakwood, finishing six pubs later at North Bar, of course taste testing at every venue.
A lover of beer? How about charcuterie? Well then, this event is right up your street. Down at Northern Monk Refectory, you’ll have a chance to eat and drink your way through a unique pairing of British cured meats and beer.
Imagine a late-night forest feast, where around a tree lined table, you’ll have the chance to experience an immersive seasonal foodie dinner. You’ll explore – in taste – the very best seasonal offerings from the Harewood Estate.
Also, a must, must, must visit. This is one I’ve got booked in the calendar also, as I still to this day have not been to one of the Kirkgate Late Night Markets. Shame on me. This special edition of #KirkLATE Night Market where once again, our gorgeous market place will be bustling with arts and crafts and artisan foods and drinks.
This is one not to be missed. Although the Eat North Saturday’s food fair will continue right through until August over at the North Brewing Co. taproom in Sheepscar, it will also fall in line with the last Saturday of LIF18, so an extended special will take place, hosting with even more traders than ever before. Think great snackable foods, moreish beers, and just a brilliant day out.
Down at Whitelock’s Ale House, you’ll be served your very own slice of historic dining, and in banquet form be treated to skilled recipes and dishes from the pub’s Victorian golden years.
With a slogan of ‘feed bellies NOT bins’, the Real Junk Food Project will be operating on Boar Lane where once Arkwright’s Tool Emporium was, offering a pay-as-you-feel market to make use of surplus, discarded and wasted food from around Leeds. Everything on offer is edible and safe, and by visiting their shop of food wonders, you’ll be helping towards reducing the 36 million tonnes of food waste every day in the UK.
Having recently tried out the vegan delights that Knave’s Kitchen cooks up, check out the review here, the team will be operating from Neon Cactus throughout Leeds Indie Food to raise a foodie hell with their seitan based dishes. Perfect for vegans, vegetarians, pescatarians and meat eaters. It’s well worth a try and if it’s not your thing, well at least there’s a bar.
And there we have it… nine awesome food events showcasing the very best of Leeds independent food traders. Have you been to any LIF18 events yet, and will you be heading to any more?
Would love to know if you have anything planned.
