Leeds + food = ❤️
Just in case you missed it, there have been some new additions to Leeds food and nightlife, meaning even more reasons to head out to try some new deliciousness.
Opposite the Corn Exchange, in between Las Iguanas and Red’s True Barbecue, is our newest all you can eat meat feast, Bossa Grill. Stylishly set up and decorated, this Brazilian restaurant knows what us folk want, and it’s the delicious meats served Rodizio style. At Bossa, there are eight meat variations, from divine beef cuts, tender lamb, chicken, pork belly and sausages, to slow braised pulled beef. A darn good selection, pleasing to the eye and stomach. Unlike Fazenda or Bem Brasil, there is no cold buffet, and instead two sides are brought out complimentary, being the chips and coleslaw. Additional side can be bought extra.
With the evening dining priced at £17.90, Bossa beats competing styled restaurants by a considerable chunk of around eight pounds. This of course depends on how many sides you opt for and what you prefer when it comes to dining here.
We opted for two other sides to share: the ‘Batata Doce’ which are sweet potato wedges with a dip of avocado mayo, and the ‘Ovos Picantes’, a fried egg topped with a Brazilian caponata, farofa and cheese sauce. You can never go wrong with wedges, let alone sweet potato ones, but the ovo picantes just blew us away by its unusualness and tastiness.
Of course to celebrate the new opening, a prosecco went down marvellously along with a creamy passionfruit cocktail for a little later on.
Around the corner from Bossa Grill, the EPIC Cocktail Club offers cocktails galore over two floors, with different ambience on each level, suited to their décor and range of flavours in the drinks.Casual and laid back, the ground floor is nice for a quick pop in, catch up with friends and a well-deserved drink after work.
IF, however, and yes that’s a big if, what you want is surprise, creativity and excitement, then the first floor is for you. This lounge pretty much gives the venue its name- epic. Love, love, love the concept of the lounge, and one that is described as an innovative fully sit down cocktail floor that will combine all the senses. Intrigued? Good, because you should be.Coined the theatre of the cocktail, the upstairs offers a range of 10 unique cocktails, all with unusual twists or unexpected extras. One thing they all have in common, is that each comes with its very own aroma.
The ‘Essence Of The Cocktail’ is exactly its paired aroma, concocted by their in house perfumers, the scents are sprayed around you before you consume to heighten your cocktail experience. Marvellous, right? With brilliant names like the Doctors Orders (with the main ingredients being lemongrass, ginger, whisky and Laphroig), or a Straight Outa Yorkshire (Leeds gin, raspberry and rhubarb liqueurs, rhubarb, ginger preserve, lemon juice and vanilla syrup), how could you not fancy a reyt nice cocktail?
So if you fancy something you can sink your teeth into, or a completely different cocktail experience, I’d highly recommend Bossa Grill and the first floor lounge experience at the EPIC Cocktail Club.
With there being so many new places opening up, I still haven’t tried out some of the locations that opened up earlier this year. Notable mentions for MOD Pizza, Mr Nobody, The Turk’s Head, OX Club. I’m working my way through, so bear with me.One treat I do have coming up for you, is the review of Leeds newest Chinese restaurant, MANS Market that opened up on Wellington Street. It’s theatrical, it’s fun, and most of all it was blooooooming tasty. All to be revealed next week! I can’t wait to share it with you.
Lots of love,
